Illex Kawashi Mikey 115: The Three-Section Jointed Swimbait for Perch and Pike Around Cover

Predatory fish like to hold in areas with sunken timber, lily pad fields or weed edges, as these give them cover. The Illex Kawashi Mikey 115 was developed precisely for these zones. This hardbait consists of three flexibly connected sections. As a result, it moves through the water far more naturally than a rigid lure.

Powerful S-Swim with Rolling Action

It combines a powerful S-shaped swimming action with a rolling motion and a curved diving lip that amplifies every movement on the retrieve. The swimbait cuts wide S-curves through the water while also rolling around its longitudinal axis. Illex calls this action "Wobble and Roll". With every roll the flanks flash, and the joints produce a distinctive clacking sound. Predators therefore detect the lure both visually and through their lateral line, even in murky water.

Effective Even When Paused

The lure keeps catching during pauses, as the head and tail hooks carry teasers that keep moving even when you stop the retrieve. Hesitant fish already following the lure often decide to strike at exactly this moment. Because the Kawashi Mikey floats, it rises slowly during pauses. At the surface you can present it like an injured baitfish or a swimming rodent.

At 11,5 cm in length and 19.5 g, this Illex lure is compact and casts accurately. It runs shallow between 0 and 0.5 m, making it well suited to bank margins, weed beds and shallow bays. Among pike lures it stands out with its conspicuous action. Among perch lures, this jointed swimbait mainly appeals to large specimens looking for a substantial meal. When zander move into the shallows at dusk, it also earns its place among your zander lures. Rods rated Medium Heavy or Heavy are recommended for working the lure. It is fitted with three ST-36BC hooks in size 5.
