Illex Mama Kaera Frog Soft Plastic Lures

Illex Mama Kaera: Compact Soft Frog Lure for Topwater Strikes in Dense Weed

Where other lures get snagged, the Illex Mama Kaera is just getting started. It was designed for anglers who want to target black bass, perch and pike in dense vegetation. At 6,5 cm in length and 18 g in weight, this frog lure combines a compact profile with a solid, well-balanced build. This allows it to be cast far and accurately.

Compact Build for Dense Cover

The floating topwater lure glides cleanly over weed beds, lily pads and submerged timber. As it crosses obstacles, it produces clearly noticeable sound and vibration that draw predators out of deep cover. Its compact profile in particular often triggers explosive strikes from below.

Easy Retrieve with Plenty of Options

Thanks to its fine-tuned balance, the frog responds to even light rod movements. Walking the dog works even in the tightest spaces. When skating, it moves steadily across the surface, and nervous twitches wake up inactive fish. Targeted pauses in the gaps between plants are especially effective, as this is often exactly where the strike comes.

Well-Designed Hooking in Weed

On the strike, the Illex Mama Kaera immediately turns into a favourable hooking position. This noticeably improves your hook-up rate, even when the fish takes it in the middle of the weed. The lure is fitted with size #2 hooks. If you use the frog as a pike lure, we recommend a bite-proof leader made of steel or titanium.

Who Is This Frog Lure For?

The Illex Mama Kaera is aimed at anglers who enjoy technical topwater fishing. As a bass lure, it plays to its strengths in heavily weeded waters. As a perch lure, it excels around lily pads in summer. Pike in shallow water can also be drawn up to the surface with it.
