Illex Riser Bait 007 R Lure 7cm 8g

Illex Riser Bait 007R Lure: compact topwater lure for perch, asp and chub

The Illex Riser Bait 007R is the slimmer and lighter version of the well-known Riser Bait family. With a length of 7 cm and a weight of 8 g, this Illex topwater lure is tuned for smaller predators and suits situations that call for a subtle lure profile. Illex has fully retained the characteristic action of the larger models.

How the Riser Bait works on the surface

The principle is deliberately simple: cast and retrieve. At rest, the lure sinks. As soon as you start reeling in, the special metal lip makes the Riser Bait rise straight to the surface. There it produces a restless, eye-catching action and imitates a fleeing baitfish. No additional rod work is needed. This is a real advantage for anglers new to surface fishing, as the lure is already effective on a steady retrieve.

Long and accurate casts

Thanks to its compact shape and a weight that is high for its size, this Illex surface lure casts far and accurately. This lets you reach distant surface feeding activity or place the lure precisely along edges, lily pad fields and under overhanging branches. Its body is made of durable plastic and fitted with two size 10 treble hooks.

Applications and target species

The Illex Riser Bait shows its strengths as a surface lure above all in freshwater. Perch often respond to the frantic action with aggressive strikes. Asp can be targeted specifically in flowing river sections when they are hunting on the surface. Chub lurking beneath bushes and trees for insects and small fish are also reliably tempted. Vary your retrieve speed until you find the pace that works best on your water.
