The Illex Tsukumo 66 is a vibration lure designed for challenging shallow water zones.
The Illex Tsukumo 66 offers a novel approach to lipless crankbaits. The lip, which is positioned unusually at the rear of the body, works in reverse, pulling the 66 mm lure to the surface when reeled in. This makes it possible to use it in areas that are extremely shallow, where conventional vibration lures would quickly get stuck on the bottom.
Despite its light weight of just 16.5 g, the Tsukumo achieves impressive casting distances. The combination of sinking properties and the buoyancy-generating lip creates unique running behaviour. The faster the retrieval, the shallower the lure runs. This controllability makes it ideal for waters with extensive weed beds and structurally rich shallow zones.
The intense vibrations it produces directly stimulate the lateral line organs of predatory fish. The lift-and-fall animation causes the lure to rise quickly, while the slow descent is delayed by the lip's resistance. These zigzagging movements trigger even passive predators to attack.
