The Illex brand is a subsidiary of the French fishing tackle manufacturer Sensas. Under the management of Hugues Nello, the idea was born in 2003 to offer a completely new concept on the market of modern artificial lure fishing. The background was not only the development of new, innovative fishing tackle, but also the philosophy of modern predator anglers. Illex identifies with the lifestyle of the new generation of anglers. Above all, the focus is also on a sustainable and gentle approach to nature.
The fact that Illex is heading in the right direction was proven, among other things, at the Predator World Championship 2014 in France. The Illex team was able to prevail among 16 nations with a clear lead. Today, Illex offers a wide range of products for modern predator fishing. In addition to high-quality bags and rods, Illex has built up an excellent reputation above all through outstanding lures.
Illex is by far best known for its hardbaits, which are among the highest quality artificial lures available on the market. While these little marvels were initially reserved for certain anglers who were not afraid to import Illex products, they can now be found in almost every bait box. Most of the Illex brand artificial lures come from Jackall. They are easy to identify because each lure has a Jackall logo on the packaging and an inscription "Modéle conception Seiji Kato". Moreover, the Jackall and Illex plugs are called the same.
Illex is not satisfied with copying existing products, but always tries to go its own way and so far Illex has always been successful. Illex comes from fishing practice and is always ready to pass on the knowledge it has gained to its customers. A meticulous development phase goes into every lure, and only when everything really fits is the company ready to make the results available to the consumer.
The cooperation with the Japanese fishing tackle developer Seiji Kato was a great success for Illex from the very beginning. Seiji Kato made it possible for Illex to draw on a concentrated know-how of classic Japanese plug making. In conjunction with European test anglers, it was subsequently possible to respond precisely to the needs in Europe.
