Illex Thin Tricoroll: Trout Minnow Lure for Trout and Grayling in Flowing Water

In fast-flowing streams and rivers, the lure often decides whether a wary trout comes back for a second look. The Illex Thin Tricoroll was designed by the Japanese developers at Jackall for exactly these situations. It is an exceptionally slim, laterally flattened minnow lure that produces a short, high-frequency rolling action at even low water pressure and flashes strongly while doing so.

Control instead of chance in the current

The flat body sides and the thin construction mean that the lure works on minimal contact. Its tuned balance translates jerks and twitches immediately, tipping briefly to one side and righting itself at once. As a sinking model it can be dropped to a chosen depth and worked in the near-surface layers between 0.6 and 0.8 m. Even in strong current, in back eddies and along current seams, it keeps running smoothly.

Casting behaviour for narrow mountain streams and wide rivers

The aerodynamic profile transfers casting energy with little loss. The lure flies stably, even into the wind and with light tackle. This lets you reach holding spots behind boulders or beneath overhanging branches accurately, without disturbing the water first.

Three sizes and six colours

The smallest version at 44 mm and 2.3 g covers clear streams and cautious grayling. The Illex Thin Tricoroll 52 S at 52 mm and 3.2 g is the all-rounder for medium rivers, while the version at 61 mm and 4.3 g comes into its own in deeper and faster water. All sizes sink and run with a rolling action, fitted with Troutin Treble BL trebles in PTFE/SL finish: size #14 on the smallest model and size #12 on the two larger models. Each size is available in six colours.
