The Saltist series has especially been developed for the application under severest conditions in fresh and salt water and is equipped with almost all technical highlights from our Japanese engineers.
The MagSealed construction reliably prevents the intrusion of water and dust particles via the main shaft and therefore ensures a longer lifespan of the gearing. The HardBodyz reel body provides a safe and distortion proof housing of the premium CNC-cut DigigearII gearing and therefore enables optimal power transmission during the fight with the fish. The DigigearII gearing delights with an extremely smooth and round winding and is made out of one piece for optimal strain resistance.
The ATD drag system prevents the conventional high starting resistance of the drag and cares for a constant and even performance of the drag. Especially for the use of braided lines the ABS aluminum spool has been equipped with a central rubber ring, which completely prevents slipping of smooth braided lines under strain.
The Saltist reels are coated by a special "no paint surface procedure, which completely eliminates the threat of chipping paint flakes also at
heavy usage and at sea fishing.
The reel handle is firmly screwed into the reel body and is housed distortion proof and securely - perfect when heavy strains have to be transmitted at sea fishing. Starting at size 4500 these reels are also perfectly suited for the use at heavy jigging or uncompromising application at fishing for catfish or for tropical predators like GT, Amberjack and Co.

The biggest issue with many drag systems is that they are not smooth at the beginning of the drag. ATD or Automatic Tournament Drag is the newest introduction into Daiwa spinning reels. On one level ATD implements structural changes to the spool metal of the reel that provides greater support of the spool across the entire length of the main shaft. This additional support of the spool reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even pressure on the drag washers and ultimately reduces "pulsing" of the drag when fighting the fish.

CNC milled digitally developed power gear for highest strains. The precision of the gear teeth is tenfold elevated compared to conventional gears.
We have the perfect metal alloy, we have a more precise processing and we have the knowledge for building precise, durable and very lightweight metal reels.
These reels have a technological advantage and they are not - compared to other synthetic reels - more expensive and in comparison to our traditional reels they have an economic price.
To prevent the penetration of water, dust particles or salt crystals between rotor and reel body, we have developed a nearly frictionless barrier based on magnetic oil, which cannot be overcome by neither water nor smallest particles. The result is a silky-smooth running.
Daiwa's innovative bail design featuring a hollow tubular stainless steel bail for maximium rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Due to the smooth, protrusion-free design of the Air Bail®, even loose line common after a cast slides easily down the bail onto the line roller as the reel is turned, without snagging or hanging up.
Especially for our reels with oil barrier (Mag Sealed reels) mechanism we have developed a complete new Air Rotor. So the enormous strains, which affect the rotor via the line and the line roller are better distributed. This causes less pressure on the single parts of the rotor. The new rotor is 15% more light weighted than usual rotors of the same material - this reduces vibrations and enhances the rotational balance thanks to a very low centre of gravity.
